Pesach

You may have noticed I've not been posting much recently; that's because I've been busy. Aside from my normal Pesach preparations, I threw my first ever Seder this year; my parents and [livejournal.com profile] aviva_m attended. My shul asked me to take on an additional guest or two, but they never ended up sending me anyone, which meant [livejournal.com profile] aviva_m, as youngest person, had to ask the Four Questions.

Fortunately, all went well despite some slight hiccoughs, such as failing to distinguish in my fridge between raw and hard-boiled eggs (can you tell I never make hard-boiled eggs): hooray to my Dad for thinking of spinning them to find out which was which.

After two days of shuttling back and forth between my place, my shul, [livejournal.com profile] bluepork's place and [livejournal.com profile] bluepork's shul, [livejournal.com profile] aviva_m and I went up to Newcastle for the rest of Pesach, where I borrowed my Mum's car and gave her a whistle-stop tour of Northumberland. That was also quite hectic, especially when we came out of the Lindisfarne Gospels museum on Holy Island fifteen minutes before the last safe crossing time back over the tidal causeway to the mainland, to discover the streets, which had been thronging with tourists, were now completely empty, and our car was one of three left in the village's car park. Cue a mad pedal-to-the-metal dash to get off the island, wondering whether everyone else knew something we didn't; fortunately that wasn't the case, and we made it off in plenty of time.

[livejournal.com profile] aviva_m returned home on Sunday, and I had a quiet final two days of Pesach to recuperate; and now I'm back in the Big Bad Megalopolis, and have somewhat overrun the end of my lunchbreak writing this. (Oops.)

Wow, you actually hosted your own seder! That's very impressive! I'm surprised you had space in your flat, though. Mazel tov, anyway.

I have hosted meals for ten in my place; hosting a mere four plus a seder plate was nothing. It was more the cooking when most of my recipes were out of the question that was the challenge.
