I know there were some scrolls like the book of the Maccabies (although we celebrate Chanuka strangely), book of Judith and Tobit and several others but they were in Greek so not included in the Hebrew one. What language were they speaking during the time of the Hasmoneans? What was evil about them? Did we actually adopt the Greek solar calendar, I mean in general in the Western society? What was the Roman like, was it a solar one or a lunar one? Did they had month of 30 or 29 days with 12 months or whatever as well?
