I'm listening to an album of Scott Joplin's piano rags. It's a favourite of mine, but tends to have this effect on me:

Black police cars...?
I've just seen the film Billy Elliot (thanks, ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
curious_reader (for the DVD)), and aside from reactions such as: what a pampered middle-class view of the miners' strike I had at the time, despite living in the heart of the north-east's mining territory, and: 50p was an absolutely extortionate fine for an eleven-year-old in 1984 (I should know; I was one!), I was struck by the portrayal in the film of black police cars. I was astonished; I've seen black police cars in old films, but to the best of my memory, police cars have been white as far back as I can remember.
Can anyone who knows shed some light on this? Enquiring Ndoli devices want to know!
