Notes from Limmud 2012: Archaeological speculation on the origins of the second [sic] commandment
(
'Why were graven images of God prohibited in Exodus 20:4? Why do such images disappear from the archaeological record in the early Iron Age circa 1200 BCE, after being so popular in the preceding Bronze Age? The presenter thinks he has an idea, but you might not like it...'

Notes from Limmud 2012: How Israel Began
(
The Bible paints a picture of the history behind the origin of the Israelite people, but the archaeology doesn't seem to show evidence of conquest of Canaan. So who were the Israelites, and where did they come from?

Notes from Limmud 2006: The Rediscovery of the City of Yavne
(
The destruction of the Temple in 70 CE necessitated the need for a second Jerusalem: Yavne, where R. Yoḥanan ben Zakkai went to restore Judaism. Yavne is the most used name for a Jewish day school around the world—but it had never been excavated before 2003. One would have thought it an obvious candidate for excavation! If it is so important, why was it not amongst the high priority places excavated?
