lethargic_man: "Happy the person that finds wisdom, and the person that gets understanding."—Prov. 3:13. Icon by Tamara Rigg (limmud)

When Moses and Aaron first approach Pharaoh to ask him to let the Israelites go, Pharaoh reacts (Exodus 5:9):

Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
The Samaritan text has an interesting metathesis here (I am following Joel Hoffman here in translating אַל as a simple "do not", and לֹא as a more intensive "never".):
Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may be saved therein; and let them never regard vain words.
