lethargic_manHaving managed to snap the derailleur off my new bike after only 400 miles, I switched back to my old bike, which, after many derailleur problems, I had managed to affix the derailleur in place, the screw thread in the frame having now completely worn through, with a not-quite-properly-fitting nut. The first few times I went out after this, I carried the tools I would need to reaffix this in case it came loose; after it showed no signs of doing so, I stopped.
So of course this morning the gears crunched up and the derailleur fell off. (Can you tell I hate derailleurs?) So, at latest count this means I have two broken bikes, one broken window (discussions with the management association on double-glazing still ongoing) and one ailing computer (CPU fan on the way out). Place your bets now for what breaks next. Odds are: stereo: 2:1, CD player 10:1, fridge 8:1, freezer 50:1, washing machine 5:1, gas 8:1, electricity 12:1, heater 7:1...
