Nostalgia for the Highlands and Islands
Thursday, July 29th, 2004 07:46 pmMeeting up in Newcastle a few weeks ago with my old flatmate Fabien and
livredor, Fabien, who has just completed a degree in geology, gave me a book Whisky on the Rocks, tracing the geology behind Scotland's various whiskys. Now, I have no interest in whisky, but the geology in it is interesting, and it's full of cool hand-drawings and maps.
The reason I'm posting this is because reading this whilst giving blood today, the Scottish man who took my blood was so intrigued by the book he asked to borrow it whilst my blood was collecting. Afterwards he said he'll have to get a copy himself, and wandered off saying his head was off away in the mountains. :o)
