Over the last little while, I've had Scottish Power, npower and British Gas all cold-calling me (npower at my door, the others by 'phone), telling me I'd get better deals for gas and electricity with them than with my current provider. Being paranoid about giving details of any kind away to unverified people who call me up, I've not acted on them. (I did get a caller ID from British Gas, intending to call back British Gas and verify it, but failed to get around to it, and have now lost the piece of paper where it was.)

Am I being reasonable, or unreasonably paranoid? Should I switch to British Gas, as they're hassling me (albeit in the nicest way) to do so, implying their offer won't last, or should I ignore them because they're hassling me like this?

I would never give even the time of day modulo 60 seconds to cold-calling energy salesthings. If you want to reduce your bills, compare websites or something.

Ask Bt to stop Sales calls. I know they can do it. I always do it from the start and do not get sales calls for me. It is only for people who do not live here anymore.
