Evening socialisation at Limmud is the best opportunity bar none in the Jewish year to meet new people, and the last night (on which I have in the past stayed up considerably later than normal) particularly so.

This year, however, I've had to miss the first few evenings, because I was not over my flu, and needed early nights. Now I'm going to have to miss the last night too, because of a stomach bug that's started doing the rounds. There's over 2000 people here; by staying in my room tonight I shall help avoid spreading it further. It's the right thing to do... but it's still incredibly annoying. The only mitigating circumstance is that I've avoided the symptoms of pronounced vomiting.

ETA: Just when you think it can't get worse... I'm sitting here with the heating on full, two thick jumpers on, and my big thick coat, and I'm still not quite warm enough. So I whip out my thermometer, which, thanks to the earlier flu incident, I have with me, and take my temperature. 99.6°F—exactly the same as a week ago. :-(

Bah; I feel crap.

ETA: Morning update: 100.1°F—probably equivalent to nearly 101°F in someone with standard normal body temperature.

You know what to do. Overdose on Vitamin C as soon as possible. Drink orange juice, pop vitamin pills, drink that fizzy dissolvable stuff if you can stomach it. It's no cure but the massive intake of C does drastically reduce both symptoms and duration of any 'flu.

And get well soon. And I know it's only that time for us ignorant goyim, but a very happy New Year to you.

Not according to Wikipedia, which says that it reduces symptoms and duration of colds, but not flu. (When I realised that the cold I thought I had last week was actually a flu, I laid off the Vitamin C.) In this particular case I'm not sure what I have is a flu, but OTOH I'm away from home, and don't have any Vitamin C either.

I obviously have not such problems to heat up my room. The only cold room is the kitchen because has a big gap between wall and floor. That is was also the way for the mouse (which is luckily gone quite a while ago). It is permanently leaking heat there. That is why I try to keep the door shut and also because of the fridge which often disturbs at night. You would be warmer here.
