Notes from the Moishe House Beit Midrash: No More Music?

( Our rabbis taught that something once happened. Something bad. So bad that there was never any more rejoicing, and never any more music. Or, never any songs. Or, not actually but songs with rowdy words. Or, songs with rude words that people sang at parties. Not just parties, but parties with dancing and wine. So...no more songs? No more parties? No more wine? What happened? What might have broken the world? And how should we mourn? )

Sandy's Row synagogue

In my last post I posted notes from the Moishe House Beit Midrash last night. Due to double-booking, the event was not in Moishe House, but in the synagogue in Sandy's Row in the East End of London, immediately before the E-prhyme concert there (also hosted remotely by Moishe House).

I'd never heard of the Sandy's Row synagogue before, but apparently it's the oldest Ashkenazi shul in London. I just wish I'd had a camera so I could have taken a photo of the turntables on the duchan, in front of the אָרוֹן הַקּוֹדֶשׁ!
