Last week, coming back to work after Pesach, I found a letter on my desk. Despite being addressed to me, someone had already opened it, which was rather embarrassing given that it turned out to be from headhunters:

Hi Michael

I have been retained by the founders of Facebook and PayPal to build the founding team for the UK operations of their latest company—Palantir Technologies.

According to your profile on Linked-in you appear to have an interesting background. I know an old fashioned letter is a bit strange but hopefully it stands out from the pile of emails in your inbox!

Hot damn, but if they're working with palantíri, then consider me hired already!

Following the enormous technical achievements of PayPal, my client is now tackling how the world's information is organized and analyzed. [yadda yadda yadda]
