I don't know what time you are talking about when there was a temple. Was there supposed to be one at that time?

Read more closely; the article talks about the letter being in the Second Temple period and gives the dates 410 BCE.

I read years ago an article written by non-Jewish archaelogists who said they proved there had never been a temple on this mount in Jerusalem. It might be true that the Tanach (Bible) is a bid exaggerating as it always did but I am not sure if you can prove anything if it existed or not.

Rubbish. Antisemites make this claim in order to argue that the Jews have no right to Jerusalem. In 2000 when the post-Camp David talks collapse, Yassir Arafat claimed there never was a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem but that it was on Mt Gerizim.

This is utter rubbish. The temple on Mt Gerizim was the Samaritan one; there's abundant archaeological and historical evidence of a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. What I'm not sure there's any archaeological evidence of was the First Temple (the one built by Solomon). But whilst I don't know enough to argue this, I suspect there's plenty of historical evidence (Moabite, Assyrian and Babylonian sources) attesting it.
