Since I moved into my current flat, I got two Billy bookcases. There was one bookcase in the room already when I moved in; but it's been overloaded in the past and the sides bow outward so the shelves aren't supported properly. I've got by until now by supporting the shelves with various things (including books), but today when I went on a pineappling expedition and loaded the top with the result, the entire thing slumped to the left. I didn't realise just how unstable that made it, though, until I tried to remove a single book just now, and no fewer than four shelves collapsed, at first onto the one below, and then onto the floor. It looked like something from a slapstick comedy sketch.
I suppose it's time to bite the bullet and get a new bookcase, rather than trying to prop the old one up again...
