Bamburgh Castle

Yesterday when I posted a photo of Dunstanburgh Castle, hairyears said, "I saw Dunstanburgh on a coastal walk (mumble) years ago: 'bleak' hardly describes it."

That depends on what time of year you go, I suppose. Here's a picture of my mother, on her last outing in July last year, with Bamburgh Castle, a little further up the coast, in the background (click on the image for a larger view):

(The subject of the photo is apposite: The reason I'm going up to Newcastle this weekend is because it's my mother's stonesetting.)

Oh, bother, you posted about the stonesetting on FB and I made a note to myself to make arrangements to be there and then I didn't follow up because I'm bad at taking cues from FB. I can in theory come up to Newcastle this weekend but it would be tricky; are you alright for people supporting you?

I'm not expecting anyone apart from family to shlep up the country, and I'm much less in need of support than at the levoya, and no one followed up on Facebook to say they were coming. To an extent that is my fault, because I left it until only a few weeks beforehand to announce the date on Facebook; whereas I'd known the date for months. It literally did not occur to me that I should open this up to my friends. I did mention it to one other person who talked about coming, which is Judith WiNoDW/FB, but haven't heard back from her on the subject since, so I suspect she's also forgotten about it.
