Observe what the top six entries are when you do a search on the subject Hannukah.

*sigh*

Pillocks.
I don't have anything intelligent to say.

Gawsh. Is this a side-effect of some clever matching algorithm, or just what books list as their keywords?

I really doubt this is because Amazon have a deliberate policy of being clueless and insensitive about faith issues. It's much much much more likely to be a consequence of their incredibly stupid 'look at the complete text of the books in searches' thing, which is the default (I'm not even sure whether you can change it) behaviour. A lot of Christmas books probably mention Hannukah somewhere within the text.

It makes it very hard to do any sort of meaningful searches on Amazon; I've pretty much given up on them altogether, not because the search results are offensive so much as because they're completely unhelpful.
