Monday, November 27th, 2006 01:03 pmAuntie reports that copyright on sound recordings is not going to be extended in this country, but will remain fifty years, disappointing artists who wanted it brought in line with text-material copyright, viz. life plus seventy years, as for ninety-five years as it is in the States.
Strikes me there's two wrongs being perpetuated here. There should not be any discrimination between media, and copyright should be limited to death plus twenty-five years in both cases, so works eventually pass into the public domain. Just you wait until the next batch of popular books/films/music start approaching the limit of their copyright; they'll go upping the limit again...
