I've kept diaries before and I end up thinking in the past tense If this is a problem for you then I suppose it's a reasonable excuse. I tend to do that anyway, so getting an LJ made no difference.
someone would have to set the thing up for me Actually no; LJ is set up to be usable by people who are far less computer-literate (I hardly need to mention far less intelligent) than you are. It has the functionality if you want to mess with HTML or even programming, but if not, the basic structure is all web-based forms with little patronizing messages saying, don't worry if you don't understand, most users can ignore these options.
