Thursday, April 12th, 2007 02:16 pmI had the opportunity presented to me today to hop up to Edinburgh for work a week on Friday. Much as I'd love to go back to Edinburgh, I as good as turned it down. If I'm going by train—and I wouldn't consider anything else—on an erev Shabbos, I'd pretty much have to either go there, and almost immediately turn around and come straight back, or stay there until Sunday, and, frankly, the prospect of over-Shabbosing in Edinburgh, with none of my friends there any more (apart from
justinep, whom, however, I have not kept in touch with) does not really appeal.
I said to George, the guy I'd be going with, it might be more worth him going up the first time for some preliminary shmoozing (his term!), and I'd go up the next time; but he said if there was a next time we'd expect the guy we'd be going to see to come down to London.
Shame. :-S
