Mars Bars, Marathon Snickers, Maltesers, Bounty, Minstrels and Milky Way, and the ice-cream versions of all of the above, are no longer vegetarian, for any products with a best before end date after 1 October.

ETA: ...but, astonishingly, it appears they're still kosher.

Oh, thank goodness for that ETA. I nearly cried when I saw your post earlier today. It makes sense that if I eat cheese made with animal rennet, I can also eat chocolate where animal rennet has been used to prepare the whey. It's not that I eat a lot of cheap newsagent chocolate, but it's so nice not having to worry about what I do eat, and being able to bring it to Jewish events and so on. It's still annoying that they've made it unvegetarian, though.

Update: the Manchester Beth Din has ruled that Mars &c are no longer kosher.

Which raises the question, of course, of what point up the M6 they stop being kosher. (Gerrard: "Birmingham's a bit iffy.")
