Winter is icumen back
Saturday, September 29th, 2007 08:25 pmIt was, on reflection, not a sensible idea to embark into a three day yomtov/Shabbos combo with the heating off.
Come מוצאי שבת, I turn the heater on and half a year's dust burning off the element sets the smoke detector off...
Now I'm back to the two-winter pattern of cold feet—no matter how high I turn the heating, this place leaks heat so fast I'm never warm from the knees down. But, after over a year of trying to talk the management association into letting me double-glaze the flat (which would require doing the whole block of six), during which they changed their mind more times than I can remember, I've finally given up, and have ordered secondary glazing. This winter, doggamn it, I am going to be warm from the knees down. Unless, of course, it transpires the non-window bits of external wall still lose sufficient heat to outweigh the heater...

(On Tuesday I was wearing a T-shirt; last night I had the heater on full for a while, with me wearing my thickest jumper!)
