Friday, December 28th, 2007 12:21 pmStill ill, and with a temperature; I think I'm going to have to skip shul tonight and probably tomorrow as well. I can't remember the last time I've had to do that. (It would seem all previous illnesses I've had for many years happened midweek.) I feel rotten and lonely. :-(

Actually, more seriously, this must have been one of the organisers' worst nightmares: bringing together over two thousand people into close proximity, and then having a stomach bug break out. But they handled it well, announcing it early and encouraging people to quarantine themselves, as I did, if infected; and as a result I don't think too many people were infected—not bad, considering it was nasty enough that at least eight people (from what I'd heard) ended up having to be hospitalised.

Date: 2007-12-30 10:20 am (UTC)Nope. They said at Limmud it was a 24–48 hour bug, and so the diarrhoea turned out to be, but the fever is dragging on: Present each morning, subdued throughout the day by Nurofen, then returning overnight. Yesterday I had no temperature, but skipped shul anyway. Then, just before I was about to leave for
If not, remind me of what your Hebrew name is...
No. I do not believe praying for the relief of someone's illness has any effect, and my personal integrity will therefore not countenance any such prayers being said on my behalf. (If I am going to be a rationalist all my life, I am damned well going to do my best not to turn to superstition when things turn against me.)
