This reads a little like Uncleftish Beholding...

The principle apartset books of Grataism (which, of course, is named after the tribe of Grata) are the Direction and the Teaching. The Direction consists of the Five Books of Drew (also known, in book form, as the Five Fifths of the Direction); the Teaching—which constitutes the Oral Direction—consists of the Repetition and the Completion.

The Repetition was written by Mentors called Répéteurs, so called because their job was to recite from memory particular aspects of the Way when requested. The Completion was written centuries later by Mentors called Parleurs. However, we do not rely on the Completion nowadays for our Way. Instead, we consult (our Mentor, who consults) the nineteenth-century Clear Repetition. Only if this is not sufficient do we consult further back, to the Set Table (or its adaptation for Scythians, the Tablecloth), the Row, the Repetition of the Direction, etc.

Some of our prayers go back as far as the time of the Pairs; however, most derive from the time of the Teaching. They were first collated into an Ordered in the time of the Geniuses; this Ordered is substantially the same as that used today.

And now I think I'll stop, before I start waffling about Grataists only eating food which is fit, anything else being referred to as torn meat; or...
