We had two inches of snow lying this morning

Normally when this happens in the UK, my f-list is full of people saying "SNNNNNEEEEOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!" and the like.

Since this hasn't happened this time, I shall take the opportunity to quote papersky, and plug the gap:

It's in Suffolk, not far from Bury St. Edmonds. It's not in Johnson's :Placenames of England and Wales: which means it's probably not in Doomesday, as he mentions most of what is but he does miss some. It's unlikely to be other than a Saxon settlement, going by the village pattern around there, but it could be older, road atlases aren't the best tool for telling.

I have just been entertaining daharyn, up from New York, which has had basically no snow since October, so it was kind of fun walking around the city, with her squeeing at the snowbanks taller than me, and me squeeing that they have started to melt enough that we can actually see grass in spots.

I am not a particular snow fan. Especially here you have just a little bit you can't even do anything with and English bad maintained houses are even colder than before. I am ill again and had to disappoint the agency not beeing able to work this week. I will not travel with 3 buses to Enfield nor tube to Southwark this week. I am not killing myself.
