May I take this opportunity to recommend to anyone with an interest in Israel becoming the kind of state I think all of my readership would like to live in to subscribe to the newletter of the Israel Religious Action Center, which campaigns tirelessly against state oppression of non-citizens, bias against non-Orthodox denominations, and abuses by the Chief Rabbinate of its monopoly on issues like conversion, etc.
