Spent today working on a Sekrit Project I've been meaning to do for months, but which I'd now like to get (started and) finished in time for the Wandering Jews I'm hosting this Shabbos. (You'll know if I succeed from whether I post a picture of the completed thing!)
Gosh, it's been
decades since I've had to draw something with perspective, necessitating me to work out vanishing points (and then put my pencil down in them so many times I'll be lucky to manage to erase my construction lines).
I've just spent the last half hour googling decorative borders, trying to find something which appeals to me and is complex, yet simple enough I can do in an evening.
I may go for something from Islamic calligraphy. Taking a decorative border from Islamic art for something Jewish isn't, I feel, as bad as wanting to hang sajadas in a synagogue, but I feel a bit ambivalent about it. The problem is that I can't find anything else, and Islamic art decorations are cool. ETA: I've just had a better idea!
