lethargic_manThe police have been on-site continuously since the shooting in my little block of flats on Monday. (I know it's been continuous because when the other freeholders wouldn't accede to my request to put the external lights on motion sensors, I unilaterally set the lights to go off in the middle of the night, and I was woken up the night before last by the copper outside (I sleep with the window open) requesting into his walkie-talkie that another PC be sent round, as the lights had just gone off and it was pitch-black now.)
I'd locked my previous post about this because the police kicked in my door looking for suspects (or, possibly, just to find out which flat had a bullet-riddled body in it), and didn't want this information public until I had a replacement door fitted. This happened yesterday (finishing half an hour before I had to leave for shul for Kol Nidre).
Since the shooting, the police have been logging me in and out every time I arrive at and leave home, but it seems they are going to leave the site tomorrow. This is a good thing, as it means I won't have to explain to them what on earth I'm doing when I erect my succah on motzei Shabbos...
Ironically when I first planned to put up a succah, I not only notified the freeholders, but also dropped a letter around into all the other flats, including the soon-to-be murdered man's, which also invited them to join the Neighbourhood Watch to which only me of that block belonged...
