I'm pissed off. I'm supposed to be at Moishe House now; it's the third of a series of four Beit Midrash sessions on the purpose of the Temple as Maimonides saw it—only when it came to be time to go, I couldn't find my bike lights. I thought if it takes me less than twenty minutes to find them, I can still be there late but quicker than if I'd taken the bus. But they didn't turn up in forty minutes, and now I've given up; and my place looks a mess because of all the things I flung on the floor whilst sweeping items off shelves looking.
I can't figure it out. I never put things away unless they're in their right place, as I know this will happen; why would I have broken my own rule when I came in from the Purim party, the last time I was out at night? I've looked everywhere, including the bathroom cabinet, kitchen cupboards and down the backs of bookcase shelves with room to spare on top of the books.
The annoying thing is that I mentioned a couple of things last week that the person taking the class didn't know, and was interested in; and I'd prepared sheets to give out this week to elucidate him and the others more. (I was going to give them out so people could read them afterwards, rather than taking time away from the one-hour class, which was fairly tight for time the last two times.)
If my lights don't turn up in the next few days, I'm going to have to get replacements. And then I'll just be annoyed at having two sets when the originals inevitably turn up. *sigh*

Date: 2009-03-16 09:05 pm (UTC)FWIW, when I lost my bike light, I told myself that when it turned up, having the new set as a spare set for the NEXT time I lost it (or it eventually wore out) would be no bad thing, so there would be no harm in getting a spare at that point, and there would be no reason for me to be anything other than happy when I found the original. I was very, very surprised to see that I'd been right! :)

Date: 2009-03-17 07:11 pm (UTC)I am sorry that I could not get your any handouts and especially that I missed your message. My mobile was in the pocket all the time. You would have needed to phone me at home or my mobile. When it rings I can hear it and react. I do not hear messages.
I am tired from the long hours I now work although it is not paid. That is why I don't go anywhere on those days. I just started a new nursery which is not part-time nursery. Before I worked only until 12.30pm now I work until 5.30 and need some time to get home. It is further away, too. Although it is tiring I am happier there in particular with the toddlers. They often sit on me the last minute and do not let me go. This time I was not even able to leave the actually entrance door of the nursery because a child was unfaithful to her parent and tried to adopt me instead. She was very upset when her dad grabed her and I left. It seems to me that those children as I was are all day with other adults and do not feel much attached to their own parents. They get attached to any new friendly person coming in the first time. Sorry that is way off topic.
I hope you found your lights even though not on the day you needed them. I loose stuff, too, and find them at some point again. I looked for my key for ages and had to leave my door open to get in again and then I found them when I was back.

Date: 2009-04-13 11:02 pm (UTC)Couldn't help but noticing that the previous time you used the lights was on Purim. Isn't the obvious answer that the lights had too much to drink on Purim and couldn't remember where they lived?
