After, as not uncommon, summoning recalcitrant members of my team to our ten o'clock stand-up meeting by going "Oyez! Oyez! Oy you!", I've just been informed by a member of another team he has just ordered for me from eBay this:

Which is going to be great given that I work in a huge open-plan office in direct earshot of about two thousand people.:o)

Woah, you have two thousand people in your office? That really is huge! I've very rarely seen that many people inside one enclosed space.

The bell looks very pretty, too. It seems a pretty cool thing to be given, really.

That was a guesstimate. <takes out office plan> Right, there's places for just under two hundred and fifty people on my floor, all open plan. Then there's four floors beneath mine with three large atria punched down through all floors, so anywhere in the open plan part of the building ought to be within earshot of a handbell. I'm not sure all the floors are quite as populous as our own, and large chunks of the first floor are walled off (not open plan), but I ought to just about be in sound reach of part of the ground floor too, which, though I can't see it from the atrium, has, I think, wide enough staircases for some sound to get down that far too.

So, probably not two thousand, more like a bit over one thousand, but still quite large.

And yes, it does look pretty, and is a cool thing to be given; but I'd have to either tamp it down or take it outside to really get to ring properly.

You need to canvass support for forming a team of handbell-ringers. Captive audience!
