Welcome! I have a vague guess who you are, and if so I think we met at a Jung & Judisch conference in Germany a couple of years back. If it's any comfort I did manage to finish a PhD while using LiveJournal as a social lifeline. (These days my main home is a similar but newer site, but I still hang around here as I have lots of friends here still.)
Hi , thanks for welcoming me, that's kind. So far, I will mainly read - and maybe comment, and not blog myself. Maybe, if the ph.d. ever will be finished ;-) Yes, we've met at "Jewish Journeys".It will again take place in Berlin in November this year, so if you are interested let me know :o)
I would really, really like to come back to Berlin in November, that conference was awesome and I fell in love with the city a bit. But the one downside of having an actual faculty position compared with being a lowly post-doc is that it's a lot harder to get time off work in the middle of term. I usually have a fairly heavy teaching load Fridays, so weekends away involving more than a couple of hours' travel are quite tricky for me. But thank you for asking.
