I just picked up the copy of Steven Brust's Agyar I bought on Amazon after reading this comment about it [contains a spoiler, but then so does the front cover]... only to discover what I'd bought is the French translation.

Bollards.

Moral of the story: always double-check the language, even when ordering from Amazon.co.uk.

Can you give it to a French speaker? livredor's knows French and Fabien is definitely speaks French pretending to be US American. I enjoyed interview with a vampire by Anne Rice but was not so impressed by other vampire books by her. I wish I knew French much better. I would read Jules Verne's books in French then. I am not sure if your friends are into vampire stories. I am fine reading them if they are exciting but watching films gives me usually nightmares. I am not the only. It runs in my family. My mother and grandmother have the same problems with horror movies and anything near to it.

I'm returning it to Amazon.

I'd got the impression that each of her books is half as good as the last, so I stopped after the first.
