Tractates Sanhedrin, Berakoth, Shabbath, Yebamoth, Kethuboth, Nedarim, Nazir, Sotah, Gittin, Baba Kamma, Baba Mezi'a, Baba Bathra, Abodah Zarah, Horayoth, Niddah, and Tohoroth of the Babylonian Talmud available free online in English translation. (Copyright information.)
[Update:] Against which, however, Soncino's reply to [livejournal.com profile] blackherring:
We are aware of come-and-hear.com and also of the argument that they present on their site. Currently, we have consulted our lawyers as to the legalities involved with this site. Unfortunately, these types of cases usually tend to drag on for quite some time so I don't expect any result in the near future.

In the meantime, I would like to point out to you (if you did not realize this already) that come-and-hear.com is a virulently anti-Semitic and racist website. The author of the site is a well-known racist who has other websites as well that promote her racist agenda. I assume that since your name is Friedman that you are Jewish and therefore I suggest that you stay far away from the site and not suggest it to any other people. As you may be aware, the amount of visitors that a website receives greatly increases its ranking on the various search engines. So by visiting the site to access the Talmud, many people are unwittingly providing them more exposure to spread their hateful agenda.

How did you find out about this site? Do you know any more about it? It seems a fairly unusual concept, though obviously an incredibly useful resource. Will pass it on to Screwy, he's always complaining about the shortage of decent online translations of Talmud.

I was responding to a bug in my work's Bugzilla, and was saying, "Have you done this? What about that? Where does it take you?", and was googling to be able to add, "Three things a man must say to his household on Sabbath eve towards dusk: Have you separated the tithe? Have you made the eruv? Kindle the Sabbath lamp." (I didn't in the end; sense got the better of me.)

I like the kesher, though I agree it's a bit of an in-joke, so you probably made the right judgement in not including it. *grin*

If the site's just something you found on a random google that doesn't give me any counterbalance to the creepy vibes I'm getting from it. I'm not crazy about their stated reasons for ignoring copyright issues, and there does seem to be a bit of an air of, we [who's we, here?] need to read the Talmud in order to be able to counteract the international Jewish conspiracy.

Oh well, at least you didn't land up on the KKK site, which happened to me when I tried a similar trick, googling for a particular Talmudic phrase to see if I could find a translation online. Come-and-hear is definitely not quite that bad.
