For a while I've been getting mail from the World Union for Progressive Judaism (who've had me on their database since I donated money to the Israel Religious Action Center) addressed to "Mr. Michael and Mrs. Joan Grant". I let it be for a while, amused, then when they still kept coming, sent them an email pointing out I am not, and never have been, married, but would certainly like to be introduced to this wife they think I have.

Yesterday was the first time I have received a letter from them since. It is addressed to "Mr. Michael & Grant".

Now that's a middle initial to be proud of!

I used to be known as Michael dot Grant (when that featured in my email address)...

That reminds of my exchanges with the TV licensing people who did not wish to believe me when I said I did not own a TV.

After four or five letters to and from [FirstName LastName] to them and back they gave in.

Three weeks later, they wrote to Mr. [LastInitial FirstName]...

I would have said you are Dr Michael Grant and no wife. I don't know what they are thinking if they think at all. As you said there is supposed to be a married Michael Grant in Golders Green, too. Maybe they mixed you up with him.
Mr. Michael & Grant : They gave you a split personality here.

They don't know about him; they're based abroad.

Like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde: Dr Michael and Mr Grant? ;^)

I think I prefer the title as the basis for a quiz

Call me and . . .
. . . tell me a secret.
. . . give me your preferred recipe for bananas and custard.
. . . offer me some elipses!

The possibilities are endless.

I'm in a silly mood tonight - it's spring and I'll never be as young as this again.

I can see a series of Middle-eastern detective stories featuring the enigmatic Doctor Ampersand Grant...
