Those who are on my dating filter know that I've been a bit of a grumpy old bar-steward in the past, on account of being perpetually single. My life at times (i.e. most of the noughties) felt empty. "In the evening you shall say would it were morning, and in the evening you shall say would it were morn," as the תּוֹכָחָה in Deut 28:67 put it; or "My life is like water, just swirling down the drain," as the Blues Brothers did.

That's not been the case now for the last getting on towards two years. I've noticed that not only is my equanimity restored, but that I laugh a lot now (at funny things other people have said, I mean: I don't go around generally giggling like a schoolgirl).

This is an intolerable state of affairs, and interferes with the bah-humbug! personality I've put so many years into creating; and I think we should all blame aviva_m thoroughly for this, as it's all entirely her fault.
