Lightsabre fight

I posted, when I saw Revenge of the Sith, of being startled, on standing up at the end, to see a lightsabre drop at my feet:

Then reality reasserted itself and I realised it was my bike pump, which I'd had on my lap. :o)

Now, with everyone posting links to "Cello Wars", I thought I should see what happened when I switched said lightsabre on:

And lo, the lightsabre beam emitted turned out to be a reflective bandolier for wearing while cycling. (Well, what did you expect?)

Oh, you have a clone now? You did not tell me about it.

No, seriously. How did you make the photo? I assume the lightsabre is as fake as your clone.

When I think about lightsabre I think about Starwars.

Yeah, it looks really convincingly like there's two of Lethargic Man in the same photo. I keep looking at it and my brain just rejects it. It's very cleverly done, I can't tell at all how it was faked!

I took two photos on self-timer of me holding my reflective bandolier taped around a broken broom handle, and stitched them together using Hugin (http://hugin.sourceforge.net/), after cutting a transparent hole in one of them because they overlap horizontally. Actually, this is a screenshot of the Hugin preview window; I couldn't stop the final stitched version from doing exposure correction and it looked awful.

I then used the GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) to tweak the colours to turn the shirt on the left from blue to red, and to make the lightsabre as green as I could get away with given that it was still surrounded by a yellow aura.

I actually had this idea years ago, after seeing how the bandolier came out in a flash photo; it's just taken me until now to get around to doing anything about it, in displacement from preparing my Limmud talks...

I am not quiet getting how you made the lightsabres, though. Well, you can show me after Shabbat.
