Normally on a Shabbos afternoon, I come home from shul stuffed with kiddush, go immediately for a shloff, and don't have lunch until after three.

In order to actually feel like eating before Shabbos goes out at all, I limit myself to no more than one of anything, give or take a little, at kiddush.

Unfortunately, in my shul that still means:
  • One currant square
  • One chocolate walnut biscuit
  • One fish ball
  • One florentine
  • One piece of each type of cake
  • Sometimes, if I'm lucky, one piece of Linzer torte
  • Various kinds of pastry for which I do not know the name
And that's not even including the things which interest me less, such as the crisps and fruit and dips.

If I ever find myself in a situation of needing to lose weight, I think the first step to take will have to be change shul...
