I like it when new ideas for a story, or a way to fix something in a story half-written, come to me.
I hate it the way this always happens when I'm in the shower prior to going to bed, or am walking to shul on Friday night and won't be able to write it down for twenty-five hours.
Still, I normally do manage to remember my ideas, and, whilst not quite as burning hot as when I first had them, they're still normally hot enough to fire me up to implement them.
(And now I'll shut up and scrawl my idea down, or I'll not get to bed ten minutes late (it's already too late for "on time")...)

Date: 2006-10-03 10:37 pm (UTC)I always always always get my best songwriting ideas on my walk to Shul on Shabbos. It's just not fair!
Or I get them on the toilet.
I know exactly how you feel. G-d must be a trickster.
To partially solve the problem, I bought an MP3 player that also has a recording function, so any tune that pops up into my head, I can record.

Date: 2006-10-04 06:23 pm (UTC)Back in 1995 I went through a phase of vivid drug-inspired dreams (legal, medicinal drugs, I hasten to add), and took to keeping a dictation machine on my bedside table so I could record them.
On the rare occasions I now have such vivid dreams, I invariably awake thinking "This looks like it'll make a really cool story idea, but I bet it'll be naff when I look at it again when I've fully woken up." And inevitably, I'm right.
