The future of the Union flag?

Recently I had an idea that, I see on googling, was had months ago by the author of this blog entry, which says:

With the possibility of Scotland gaining Independence, here is what the Union Jack would look like if the Scottish flag, St. Andrew's Cross, is removed. Looks bloody terrible to me:

Mostly just looks like the St George flag :S

Well, the kingdom would mostly be England (and Wales, but thanks to that ba*d Edward I—the same one who was the Hammer of the Scots and expelled the Jews—annexing Wales, that's not recognised on the flag), so that seems reasonable.

I think if Scotland did leave, however, the Welsh could, would and should have a bloody good try to get representation on the new flag... and I've a sneaky suspicion you just might agree with me there. :o)
